Bighorn River
Lodge has the distinct pleasure of being recognized and being picked
not just once, but twice by Travel & Leisure magazine and Departures
Magazine as one of top "Best Lodges" in the west. Perhaps John Randolph,
Publisher of FLY FISHERMAN Magazine said it best "The best lodge on the
best fly fishing river in the world."
Bighorn River Lodge is a fly fishing and bird hunting lodge professionally staffed by avid fly fishing and hunting experts who have grown up in the area and know it well. The Lodge is located 12 miles down stream from the river's point of origination. In the fall, upland and waterfowl hunting can be combined into a cast and blast package, custom tailored for you. The Lodge was designed with the physically challenged in mind. Fishing the river is no problem, special efforts have been taken to accommodate people who need the support of wheelchairs. Alterations and style of boats provide easy access for fishing. A private five acre, spring-fed pond is located just outside your room. Large rainbows, browns and large-mouth bass inhabit this pond. Ten pound-plus trout lurk in these waters and are very territorial and will defend their lair, striking at woolly bugggers and the likes. Most often, you will catch one of their subordinate brothers weighing half as much. Maybe you can better the present pond record currently being a large rainbow measuring 28 inches and sporting a 17-inch girth. Float tubes, canoe and a row boat are available for you to use.
